Week 34
Conference and Easter Preparations
6 April 2025
We know you have seen our work cubicle before. (We usually eat our lunch here also but we are trying to go to the lunch room to be a little more social.) We have spent a little more time in our cubicle lately as our work has been more focused on preparing for upcoming events. It seems to come and go in waves. We will travel again in a few weeks.
In the meantime we are getting ready for Easter interfaith events and helping the communication directors in the island countries prepare for their upcoming events. The Area leaders asked each island country to organize an interfaith dinner. They are hoping that it will become a tradition. Some islands have interfaith organizations already set up and some are struggling with relationships. The Church is perceived differently on each. We have been impressed with some of the events that are in the planning stages in Idaho and Arizona. Great Job! Isn't this amazing! In every church location across the world, a diversity of religions are coming together to worship, sing, and express their thought of Jesus Christ. It's working!
This is the American food section in our grocery store. (Weak effort!) It is a great grocery store, much like an Albertson's, but very few American items. Don't feel badly for us, we are totally in a place that has everything you could ever need and are very comfortable. In fact, we may be brining a few things back from NZ that we think American's should incorporate.
This made us laugh. For the longest time Launette thought it said "Cougarettes". So this is either Zucchini or a dance team at the Y that has won national championships.
This is Jasmin in the blue coat. She was our intern from BYU for the last three months. She just went home and she will be missed. She brought a smile and happiness to the office. Everyone enjoyed her company and she did a great job while she was here.
Goodbye lunch for Jasmin. Veronica Strong is on the right. She is the Area Social Media Manager. Jeremey Higgins is on the left. He is a product manager that is very good at what he does. He creates and runs large projects for the Area like Easter and Light the World. He knows what is needed to invite, inspire, and direct others to want to know more about the Savior. Both Veronica and Jeremey are very good at their jobs and we enjoy working with them. Rich Hunter is the second in on the right and he is the Area Communication/Public Affairs manager. We report to him. He is a gentle, kind, Christ-like soul. Everyone else at the table are missionaries.
This is our institute class. Every Wednesday night we teach institute for the Henderson Stake. It is truly one of our favorite assignments. Each one of these amazing YSA are faithful, talented, and inspiring. They face some life challenges but they are doing their best to tackle them while being faithful in the gospel. They inspire us each week. We spent this semester teaching "Women and the Priesthood." The Institute Director requested we teach that topic and he let us create our own lesson plan for the semester. Next semester we will probably go back to the manual and teach the Foundations course.
Well we love you and miss you. I know I say that every week but we do.
Love,
Elder and Sister Shaw
